Unity is the state of being in agreement and working together or being joined together to form one unit to achieve. It is the language of marriage.

Unity is built and not bought. Be conscious that marriage relationship is not about you but about “him or her”.
To ensure unity in any relationship, here are some tips for you:

1. Do not overrate yourself and underrate your spouse in a marriage relationship.

2. Do not have the mind that your spouse should be perfect in all things. If you do this, you are heading for disappointment.

3. Build your marriage on true love, sincerity, tolerance, trust and acceptance of each other.

4. Discover a need in the life of your partner or spouse and work on how to meet this need. This will endear you to him or her.

5. Ensure there is no deceit in your relationship. Open up to your spouse in any situation.

6. Settle all scores without the interference of any third party and understand each other very well.

7. Discover ways by which you can add value to your spouse patiently in love, add value and see unity reign forever in your home.

MARRIAGE AS AN INSTITUTION

Marriage is a legal relationship that is established by a civil or religious ceremony which gives license to two individuals to live together without much limitation.

It is a special bond shared between a man and a woman who intend to live together as domestic and sexual partners forever.
Marriage as an institution is beneficial to the society in general because it is the foundation of the family. It is from the coming together of father and mother that bring about offspring/children.

Marriage plays a crucial role in transferring the culture and civilization from one generation to the other to prosper human race. This is an institution for total tolerance because of difference in background and culture.

For it to be a success there must be love, understanding, mutual respect, trust, commitment and togetherness. Absence of one or more of the above elements may give rise to some adverse consequences such as divorce.

Although the concepts of marriage remain the same around the world, the solemnization differs from one nation to another. The type of marriage that is seen in the Western world differs in the other developing nations of the world. This is due to contrast in the lifestyle and religious beliefs.
